Winter White

This one is inspired by the piles of snow in my front yard.

Here's another pick from...you guessed it, J.Crew (I promise my entire wardrobe is not J.Crew...though I certainly wish it was).

I think everyone needs a simple white dress. You can dress it up or down easily and it's a whole lot more fresh than the little black dress.

Why this outfit works:
2 words - coordinated neutrals

You can see it in the detail. The beige accents the brown belt and the brown striping on the cardigan is genius.

Pairing the oxfords with the dress just adds more interest and personality into the outfit. I think that's what essentially makes this outfit what it is. A pair of pumps would have just been boring!

To make this more weather appropriate, I would pair this with nude or gray tights and add cognac knee high or mid length boots. And with a burberry nova check scarf, I'd be ready to face the winter winds.

What do you think?

  1. That's a really cute dress! My concern for white dresses is the opacity of it. I always have trouble find a nice white dress without having it to be see through -__- Any suggestions?

  2. I agree! I think it depends on the fabric it's in. For example, I once bought a linen dress and although the skirt was lined (by thin cotton grr), it was very see through! Also, try to find something with a subtle pattern, if you notice on this one, it's actually striped. But it's subtle enough and visible enough to distract from any sheerness. If it's a thicker fabric, more manmade fabric, it'll be less sheer for sure. With white I always go the safe route and wear nude under garments!
I hope that helps! Glad you liked the dress :)
