A little more formal

If you want a shirt that is a little more formal here's a long sleeved gingham shirt with regatta blue and navy

Its currently on sale for $29.95 at American Eagle.

If I didn't have like a million shirts like this, I would snatch this up in a heartbeat!

Not to be outdone...

Ever since I met the wonderful *supercoolR my shopping habits have not been the same...

IF she can do a Blue shirt, so can I!
(the shirt I want to use is currently in my shopping spree post from like two weeks ago)

This shirt from American Eagle blends hint of Regatta Blue with other colors to form a modern plaid/western shirt that doesn't feel so country.

Its $39.50 right now at American Eagle, but with all of their sales and AE Rewards discounts you can get it for a steal depending on how often you shop there.

Business Cas in Regatta

Another one from J.Crew (don't deny it, I know you missed my JCrew posts). This is from a while back. Why this works for me is because this whole thing is monochromatic. I think monochromatic outfits add an instant chic factor. Beware, don't do monochromatic all the time, otherwise it looks tired and lazy. I think my favourite part of this is the white buttons and the gold necklace adds the perfect amount of glamour. I wouldn't wear those sandals though.

Colo(u)r Recap

Since I've included recipes for retro colors, here's the links to each of the themes we've used so far:

1- (Lemon) Curry
2- Cloud Dancer (note no color swatch for this week--apparently white swatches aren't shared online?)
3- Blue Curacao
4- Ochre
5- Chili Pepper
6- Silver Peony
7- Honeysuckle
8- Regatta (Blue)

I know its a bit of a cop out, but finding edible looking Blue Food is hard!

Finally Regatta Blue Food! (Even if its only in the sprinkles!)

Blame my sickness...

Since I've been a bit under the weather I have been vegging out a lot lately. I don't know how I got sick, but its not fun! I just back to school yesterday afternoon and am not looking forward to office hours and such this week. Luckily I have no classes Mondays and Wednesdays. Today is a Monday schedule on campus!

This doesn't have a particular color inspiration, but it just sounds good... I love shrimp and garlic! And after watching a garlic themed episode of Food Network's The Best Thing I Ever Ate, this one looks really yummy!

Source: Big Flavors From a Tiny Kitchen

For the sake of pleasing *supercoolR I'm dubbing this Cloud Dancer for the white of the shrimp and Ochre for the garlic...

Since there aren't a lot of blue foods, I am using this week to catch up on some of our former colors. I'm sick so what better way to pass the time than to beef up the blog?

Week 7 was Honeysuckle's time to shine. From January 13-19, 2011 this vivid shade of Pink benefitted from Valentine's day for food inspiration.

Here's a yummy drink that I hope you will love as much as I do.

P.S. Isn't that a sexy recipe card?

So Precious... So Creative... So Yummy!

Aren't these precious? I'm currently sick so anything sweet and sugary looks good right now!

And since we are color themed, I guess I'll add these to Week 2 (Cloud Dancer January 8-14, 2011)

Sometimes Two is better than One

Vegan chocolate cakes are apparently all the rage on foodgawker lately...

Here's another recipe, this time from Joanne Chang, who participated on Throwdown with Bobby Flay... Her sticky buns beat Bobby's in Battle Sticky Bun so this Harvard Grad's baked goods are the real deal.

Of Owls and Flowers

My favorite colors are blue and yellow. And this cake combines them as well as *supercoolR's famed color palette and LuckyArtemis' love of owls! Sure it's a few weeks too late, but it never hurts to go back and visit an old classic!

Even the insides are amazing looking!

Soba... So yummy!

Don't these Soba noodles look yummy? The icing on the cake for this dish is that theyre served in a Regatta Blue, Navy, and White bowl!

Back to Basics

Here's a post for a former color, Blue Curacao (Week 3-January 16-22, 2011)

This was just too yummy to pass up... Gluten Free Chocolate cake that actually looks good!

Organizational Blues

Organizational skills are not present in everyone... that's why Lil' Prepster is here!

Rubbermaid offers a series of affordable and attractive options, which also feature Regatta Blue on the interior!

Hamper-$13.00

(The handles aren't the most comfortable, but I love that its easy to clean and store when not in use!)

Nesting Bins - $12.00

(These are cute and functional!)

Shoe Organizer - $19.00

(I know the girls could use a few of these a piece!)

Always Preppy!

Lil' Prepster here!

This week I've decided to allow you a glimpse into my bedroom!...Well sort of... No this isn't that kind of show ladies! (That isn't my room featured up there, but I do have walls in a similar shade and that is def the quilt I have in my room... As any good prep, plaids, prints, and stripes are welcome staples into my daily life...

I love Tommy Hilfiger's Hawaiian themed items in general... I have a Red comforter with a Navy reverse with Hibiscus flowers, and a matching Navy bolster... When I saw this quilt that matched both I knew I had to get both! I found a queen sized one for $40.00 at Marshalls... quite the steal considering Twin sized ones were the same price... It retails for over $100.00 so I have to say I got a great bargain! The quilt is pretty awesome, but I just noticed it has blocks of Regatta Blue in it!

And in true shopaholic fashion, I have multiple sets of sheets! The set, whose name escapes me, which features Regatta Blue will be up later this week if I can find its name and thus online pictures... The other set I have is called Aaron and features cute little lobsters! How more New England can I get?

Update...

Ebay is a good way to buy new bedding (especially if you want to add to what you have or replace a damaged item)... I got my stuff at a fraction of MSRP! If you need additional pillowcases, a bedskirt, or curtains to coordinate with you bedding, buying sheets is actually a more affordable option in many cases instead of using FABRIC!

I have yet to remember or find a similar pattern so I just took a picture with my phone. Ignore the wrinkles, I washed those sheets before the long weekend and they're kind of wrinkled from sitting in a bin with my extra bedding.

Blue is cool!

This winter is horrible... I miss the sun and warmth... That pool looks really good right now

The wind was so horrible in tandem with cold temperatures that we had no tv, phone, or internet for friday night/ saturday!

week 8: regatta

Pantone 18-4039
Regatta

This is our new colour of the week. I find this one very refreshing from our pinks and yellows that we've had.

PS. Pantone coloured VISA's are real! (But don't try to use this one...lol!)

Let's Go To The Beach

This makes me miss summer so much. How cute is this dress (Roxy). My favourite part is the drawstring waist. I will be purchasing this one, hopefully when I have a tan :)

This dress also comes in teal, which I think Lucky Artemis would totally rock, with the hat!

Booze it Up!

A lovely martini for some lovely ladies :P

Spending Issues are What Brought Us Together...

$49.90 - Abercrombie

(I felt so horrible at first paying this much for a shirt, but I really like the plaid... sure shipping was $10.00 but I used to have to pay for it on AE)

$19.90 - Abercrombie

$14.90 - Abercrombie

$19.95 ($24.50Stores) - American Eagle

$39.99 ($29.99 in stores) - American Eagle

$39.99 - American Eagle

SupercoolR and I have really bad spending issues... case in my point my shopping spree last night!

These are a few of my favourite things

I love sequins and pale pink. I'm not much of a girly girl, but when I saw this I had to have it. This is from AE from last spring! I think I was the only one who saw this for what it was actually worth and I picked it up as soon as I could get to the nearest AE. What I love about it is how it feels when you're wearing it. Although it isn't silk and is just polyester, it feels so silky and luxurious. Not to mention that I've seen countless other camis that look exactly like this for upwards of $100!! So basically, I LOVE this cami, but I haven't had the opportunity to wear this often. But I've paired this with a boyfriend blazer and dark skinnies in the past. How would you style this tank?

Perfect for a date on Valentines, but since I am "forever alone", I will not be wearing this. Lame.

A picture is worth...

I just thought I would share this union of cuteness and dorkiness...

Colour Trend: Silver Peony

Hey readers, long time! Sorry, work has just been ridiculous!!!

Pale pink has been spotted on the runway in the spring 2011 collections. In fact, along with the chosen pink hue of the year (Honeysuckle), I think neutrals including pale pink are going to be pretty big this season. Here are a few picks from the runway.

Are they a Muffin or a Cupcake?

The author calls them a muffin, I think they're cupcakes... Either way these Banana Nut beauties look amazing!

http://www.cakeandallie.com/2011/01/banana-nut-muffins/

Cupcake Time!

Cupcakes are something that I love making... and these little beauties are almost too cute to eat! They are rocking Silver Peony very well!

It's in French so SupercoolR we may need your assistance!

I've never had a crepe, but they have always been something that have interested me. I know this is cheating a bit, but they fit in with the theme and the general theme of french/love...

I Told You I was Obsessed

I told you about my obsession, and I bet you didn't believe me... I love dumplings/wontons so much that here's another one!

Craving Chinese?

Dumplings are one of the things that I cannot live without in my life; the others being Malibu, lemonade, potatoes, and Provolone cheese. This look super good! They look so easy that even a caveman could make them!

The Color of Love...

Plain White T's may sing about the Rhythm of Love, but I'm going to talk about the Color of Love... and no I am not talking about Pink or Red... I'm talking about Silver Peony... the color of cookie dough... or any dough from pasta to bread... carbs are very important to the best dishes, so its ironic that we can speak with our stomachs and eat with our eyes!

Will you be my Valentine?
