The Tropics

I'm back!!!! Sorry for the unexpected hiatus.. internet issues at home..

How wonderful is this dress! Perfect for summer with it's abstract print, airy fabric and bright colours, one of which happens to be our weekly colour!

I saw this dress by Roxy in store, but it was sold out in my size :( but I'm trying to find it in other stores.

Worn alone, it looks more like a beach coverup, which isn't exactly my style. I'll be wearing this with a statement necklace and maybe a bright cardigan (yellow!) I do love that bracelet though!

Can I have some crème brûlée please? Merci.

On a cold winter day, there is nothing I like better than soft winter whites and neutrals. I was so pleased to see the colour Lil Prepster chose this week! Here is one of my favourite looks of all time -- chunky knit + chunky scarves. I'm not gonna lie, I have a soft spot for any sort of scarves so I knew just want to share with our readers.

This look can be achieved very simply and with any colour palette you like. Just find a chunky scarf and a sweater! I would definitely go for neutral on neutral though. And I would substitute the jeans with a (faux) leather mini skirt or even shorts to make it a little more fun.

What do you think?

PS. crème brûlée means burnt creme en français pour ceux qui le savaient pas :)

Business Cas in Regatta

Another one from J.Crew (don't deny it, I know you missed my JCrew posts). This is from a while back. Why this works for me is because this whole thing is monochromatic. I think monochromatic outfits add an instant chic factor. Beware, don't do monochromatic all the time, otherwise it looks tired and lazy. I think my favourite part of this is the white buttons and the gold necklace adds the perfect amount of glamour. I wouldn't wear those sandals though.

Let's Go To The Beach

This makes me miss summer so much. How cute is this dress (Roxy). My favourite part is the drawstring waist. I will be purchasing this one, hopefully when I have a tan :)

This dress also comes in teal, which I think Lucky Artemis would totally rock, with the hat!

These are a few of my favourite things

I love sequins and pale pink. I'm not much of a girly girl, but when I saw this I had to have it. This is from AE from last spring! I think I was the only one who saw this for what it was actually worth and I picked it up as soon as I could get to the nearest AE. What I love about it is how it feels when you're wearing it. Although it isn't silk and is just polyester, it feels so silky and luxurious. Not to mention that I've seen countless other camis that look exactly like this for upwards of $100!! So basically, I LOVE this cami, but I haven't had the opportunity to wear this often. But I've paired this with a boyfriend blazer and dark skinnies in the past. How would you style this tank?

Perfect for a date on Valentines, but since I am "forever alone", I will not be wearing this. Lame.

Sometimes I am a dictator of taste, like Blair Waldorf.

And I'm pretty sure Blair would agree with me on this one.

Red pumps.

If I ever see you wearing red pumps, I will tear you to shreds with insults, that may or may not be prostitute related.

Coach 2010 Kristin

Iwas a huge fan of Coach until the Poppy line came out and the company started gearing towards a more younger market. For me, the je ne sais quoi that makes coach so classic was gone. Then, coach came out with the kristin line in 2010. I fell in love instantaneously. In fact, I had received a 25% preferred customer coupon and bought TWO kristin bags. The main colours were yellow, peach, and turquoise!!

I bought these two beauties. I wanted the turquoise hobo, but I thought it was overkill and would be potentially a hard colour to match, so I opted for the smaller leather bag, which has credit card slots!! And I bought the cheery yellow hobo! I love them both! I get so many compliments everytime I'm wearing them!

In the midst of winter, I found within me an invincible summer.

(Quote by Albert Camus)
Another one from J.Crew (this is not a good pattern haha!)

As you can tell, I'm dreaming of summer right now. I love this easy going look - it is minimalistic with a kickass colour combination. I wear these colours together more often than I care to admit.

In the winter, I would pair this with a cord skirt in the same khaki colour and tights and a cardigan in gray, and a long vintage key necklace.

PS. The silk pocket cami is sold online or through catalogue only and is available in petites! I'm about to put an order through myself!

Dear turquoise, I love you.

Blue Curacao is literally my FAVOURITE colour and I'm so excited to share my love for turquoise!

One of the reasons I chose this colour is because this is going to be one of the big colours for spring 2011, in fashion and design!

Here are some outfits from the runway: Fendi, H&M, Cynthia Steffe, DKNY, and Costume National.

Which one of the these is your favourite?

Winter White

This one is inspired by the piles of snow in my front yard.

Here's another pick from...you guessed it, J.Crew (I promise my entire wardrobe is not J.Crew...though I certainly wish it was).

I think everyone needs a simple white dress. You can dress it up or down easily and it's a whole lot more fresh than the little black dress.

Why this outfit works:
2 words - coordinated neutrals

You can see it in the detail. The beige accents the brown belt and the brown striping on the cardigan is genius.

Pairing the oxfords with the dress just adds more interest and personality into the outfit. I think that's what essentially makes this outfit what it is. A pair of pumps would have just been boring!

To make this more weather appropriate, I would pair this with nude or gray tights and add cognac knee high or mid length boots. And with a burberry nova check scarf, I'd be ready to face the winter winds.

What do you think?

Mellow Yellow

Hey all - I'm featuring a bit of fashion for you today! I'm a huge fan of J Crew - their styles are classic, effortless, cool and always in style! (How DO they do that?!)

I'm loving the wool peacoat in the yellow tone (which is the theme for this week) paired with khaki. I just love wearing yellow, no matter what the shade, but it does tend to stand out a bit more in the winter. I have epic love for knit tights for obvious reasons. I can easily see myself wearing this or a variation of this, come spring time! Come on J Crew, why don't you have a store in Canada yet?! We're not even a foreign country!
